Spring shares love and hope
Do you love spring? It’s my favorite season (in spite of the pollen). For me–spring shares love and hope.
If you know me or have visited my blog previously, you recognize my joy in spring. Not just for the amazing beauty of the season–which is a major reason, but because there are so many wonderful aspects of spring.
For example, spring gifts us with . . .
Beautiful flowers and trees
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. (Song of Songs 2:11-13a)
I love being in my yard or walking on the nature trail. In spring, there’s something new and beautiful bursting forth every day, shouting, “Look at this beauty. Welcome to God’s amazing creation!”
Do you have a favorite spring flower?
Birds sing with joyful songs
He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountain. The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. (Psalm 104:10, 12).
In the morning, just before sunrise, as I transfer horses from one pasture to another, our birds share a glorious symphony with me. They share their joy of the season with beautiful music.
Each day is a blessing, but mornings are my special favorite time of day. It’s as if God is saying, “This is a new day for you, a gift–what do you plan to do with it?”
Do you enjoy mornings? What’s your favorite time of day?
Hope through rebirth, renewal, and revitalization
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness. (Isaiah 43:19)
When my Peonies thrust through the mulch after their winter of rest beneath the soil and open their magnificent blossoms, it’s as if they say, “Look! Here I am!”

Confidence in God’s trustworthiness
For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. (Isaiah 61:11)
In spring, tiny sprouts of oak and maple trees flourish in my flower beds. Maples and oaks surround our yard and drop their seeds into the rich soil below. As part of God’s Master plan, the seeds take root with the intent to become a giant tree. God’s plan is trustworthy and we humans are an integral part of His creation. We praise Him, our Sovereign LORD, for His power and majesty.
Faith in God’s presence, His power, and His creation
“Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3)

I love sunrises and sunsets. God’s plan assures us that day and night will come, just as He designed the operation of the Universe. He is with us through trials and challenges.
- God is with us through the storms.
- We see Him in the beauty of creation.
- We feel His presence in our time of need.
In spring, our high school seniors graduate. This make this time of year extra special. Our children, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors take that BIG step into adulthood. I pray you’ll join me in sharing encouragement with our graduates and praying for the major decisions they make as to their next step on their journey.
Here is a short video of encouragement for our seniors and their families.
Loving spring here too! (with you on the not-the-pollen-bit). There is something about nature springing back to life that always reminds me of the tender mercies of Jesus in bringing me from spiritual death to life. Thank you for this uplifting post!
I love the way you expressed your thoughts, Sylvia–“the tender mercies of Jesus in bringing me from spiritual death to life.” That’s beautiful and true. We are so blessed by His love, mercy, and grace.
I love mornings, especially the time when the night fades away, the first light appears, before the sun springs over the horizon. I love the quiet, peace, and calm before the birds chirp or the roosters crow. As one who gets allergy shots twice a week, I dislike the pollen but I love the blossoms, blooms, and new growth. I still remember my late maternal grandmother instructing me when I complained of springs rains and thunderstorms. She asked if I liked the pretty flowers in bloom. I said yes. She pointed out how the grass and flowers needed the rain to grow and that the rain wash off the pollen from the places it didn’t need to be at.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful description of your mornings, Jimmie. I also love to watch night giving way to the sun. Your grandmother sounds like a very wise woman. We are blessed by those memories and I’m grateful for the wisdom shared by the elders. I’m one of those “elders” now and I hope and pray I have something worthwhile to share with my grandchildren.
Spring, yes warm weather, I love it! Pollen is just something to put up with, but if we didn’t have it no flowers or food would be available, so I will endure the weeks of yellow dust. Your pictures are always so beautiful, Katherine. We can never have too many!
Yes, you are right, Barbara. We have to have the pollen to grow these lovely flowers I cherish–and to grow fruits and vegetables to eat. It’s all part of God’s amazing creation. Thank you for your kind encouragement.
Happy spring, Katherine! Although they sometimes eat what they’re not supposed to eat, we love to watch the rabbits (and other critters) play in our yard.
