Blessings of the morning
This past week, I escaped to the beach to write. Those of you who know me recall my love for the beach. Beach walks and soothing sounds of the ocean grant peace, but blessings of the morning surpass all the other joys.
Sunrises over the ocean are spectacular.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8
Rising early in the morning isn’t always my favorite action, but I always receive joy and blessings from seeing the first lights of dawn, watching the sun pop over the horizon, and experiencing the awakening of God’s creatures.
For me, blessings of the morning include:
- The bursting forth of a new day
- A reminder of our loving Father’s faithfulness
- Renewal from a night’s rest
- Hope and anticipation of new experiences from a new day
- Thankfulness for His love, protection, His creation, and the blessing of living on Earth
A new day—Light and blessings!
He is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings grass from the earth. (1 Samuel 23:4)
A reminder of God’s faithfulness
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Hope and anticipation
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:3)
Thankful
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. (Psalm 59:16)
But there is more . . .
The morning welcomes a new day—one where I haven’t yet “messed up.” My slate is clean (for a little while, at least). And I know that my loving Lord is there for me. All day, He is only a prayer away.
He grants me strength, courage, and faith to face those new trials the day brings, as well as the incomplete ones from yesterday. God’s love is unfailing—and each morning is a new reminder.
Satisfy us in the morning with you unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. (Psalm 90:14)
What’s your favorite time of day? Of course, God’s love doesn’t just arrive in our inbox at a certain time. He is 24/7 infinitely. His schedule isn’t based on minutes, hours, days, or years. He loves us eternally and as believers, because of His gift of love and life, we look forward to being with Him forever.

What a precious adoration of our Lord in these words. Thank you for the reminder of His love, glory, and faithfulness.

I am a slow waker-up-er, and have never loved mornings, yet my favorite thing of the day happens first thing. I open the Word, and meet with Jesus in a special way. I hated to rise early when I was younger. Now, I love seeing a new day dawn. I’ll admit, sunrise and sunset are both equally moving to me. Both remind me that God holds the world in His hands.
