From old to new

If you’ve visited my blog previously, did you notice it has a new look today?

Do you like new things?

Let’s be honest. Sometimes we love the new–a new car, new clothes, new television, new additions to our family–who complains about those? But what about new job responsibilities which become overwhelming, new maintenance costs from an aging vehicle, new demands on our time when we’re already struggling to keep up, or new aches and pains as we get older?

When is new a good thing?

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Scripture tells us that when accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are born again, we are new in Christ. “The old is gone and the new has come.” For those who are believers, we recognize this “newness”–the new person we have become. We realize that we are forever changed.

We don’t want to go back to the old person we were.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24)

Paul the Apostle is reminding us that when we accept Jesus as our Savior, we become a new person. The past is behind us (that’s not to say we shouldn’t learn from past mistakes). The “new” is ahead of us. We embrace the new and look forward to the future.

We are new in Christ! What a blessing!

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-19)

I’m loving my new website!

Although it isn’t quite finished yet, there is much new to see at katherinepasour.com. I hope you’ll take a moment to look at the changes in my website–examine the “newness.”

I’d like to recognize, Jennifer Thayer Knight, the wonderful person who is revamping my website. Her work is awesome and she’s great to work with! I highly recommend her. (She’s especially patient with technology challenged people like me). You’ll find her contact information below.

Wishing you a blessed week, my friends.

Love the new look and feel of your web site Ms. Katherine, and promise to explore more of it as time permits. Am looking most forward to receiving my pre-ordered copy of your latest book and reviewing it ma’am. God’s blessings.

I’m so glad you like the new look of my website, J.D. I’m especially grateful for your kindness in preordering Honoring God with My Body: Journey to Wellness and a Healthy Lifestyle. Your encouragement and kindness are such a blessing, my friend. I’m praying for rain and cooler temperatures for us.

  2. Thank you for the shoutout. You have been a pleasure to work with as well. I do love new things. We purchased my new tome car ten years ago, but we’re only able to get it by Gods intervention. I have called it my God car. We got it in Houston Tx in 100 degree temps and it had snow features. I giggled thinking when will I ever use this. Little did I know a year later I would live in Montana. To this day that car still feels new. Every time I drive it I thank God for the gift.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

I’m so glad you shared the story about your car, Jen. Such a wonderful reminder of God’s tender mercies in all aspects of our lives. Your thankfulness for each opportunity to drive your car is a nudge for me to remember to thank God for the “ordinary” (although we know God’s gifts are extraordinary) gifts of our daily walk with Him.

  3. Your site is looking good!
I love new things! Our first year to plant corn and green beans—yum!
Our beautiful rose bushes are new, and we added a bird feeder last week! I especially love the Lord’s blessings. They are new every morning!

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

I don’t have a garden this year and that’s a “new thing” I’m sad about. Hopefully, next year! I agree, LuAnn, God’s blessings are new every morning and all day and all night, too. Thank you for your encouragement.

  4. I love the verses you used. Looking forward to change can be scary, but we should always rejoice in the new lives God gives us and a chance to start anew every day!

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

You are absolutely right, Janet, we get a new start each day. Isn’t that an awesome blessings? We are also blessed to have His Word to guide us through every part of our journey. Wishing you a blessed week.

  5. Katherine, your new “home” looks great! Congratulations on getting it up and running. I like that new sports car you have pictured on your blog. But I like the old sports cars too. When it comes to God, I’m so glad He’s always up to something new. I’m especially thankful for His new mercies every morning.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

I like your comment that, “God is always up to something new.” I agree–He is so creative, loving, and concerned for our well-being. I visualize Him contemplating on the multiple ways He blesses us each day. Thank you for sharing sunshine and light in your comment, Annie.

  6. Anything God makes new is GOOD. Each day is a new day to walk on fullness of being made new by Him.
    Very encouraging post.

Isn’t it wonderful that God makes US new? Sometimes I think He finds it necessary to “clean me up” several times a day when I slip onto the slope of sin. I’m so thankful that our Father is always within hearing distance of our prayers. Thank you for your kind encouragement, Connie.

      1. Congratulations on your new look. It is amazing and Jennifer is doing a great job! Making all things new is what the Lord does for all aspects of our lives.

        1. Katherine Pasour says:

Thank you, Barbara! I’m so thankful that we are one of those “all things new through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Wishing you a blessed weekend.

  7. I, too, love the new look. And I enjoyed this post. I’m reading a book that drops the idea that we (Christians) can experience new birth in Christ again as we enter our 3rd act of life. It’s helping to change my perspective on aging!

I’m enjoying your book and wish you a successful launch!

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

Oh, my, “our third act of life…” I’ve heard our lives referred to as “the fourth quarter.” Both remind us of the finality of our earthly lives. But, we also know that our final journey takes us to Him and time won’t matter. Thanks so much for your best wishes and encouragement, Candyce.

  8. Beautiful new site, Katherine! We do love the new, and I love the twist you provide to show what new thing is most important–our connection to Christ. Thanks and God bless!

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

I enjoy the new as well, although I confess to sometimes missing the old, too. I’m so thankful that our loving relationship with our Savior never gets old–it’s new every morning. Thank you for letting me know you like my new site. May God bless you and your family.

  9. Yvonne Morgan says:

I love the new website and your great message about being made new in Christ. It is a blessing.

Your site is beautiful and refreshing, Katherine. I love it! Thank you for highlighting the value of new life in Christ. It’s new and refreshing each morning.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

Thank you for your feedback and encouragement, Jeannie. Your thoughts reflect my own as ! view the sunrise each morning–each new day is a reminder of His great love for us and we are a new person with Him. Blessings!

  11. Katherine, I was just studying some of these verses this morning. I love how God sometimes does that. Thanks for your reminder that we are already NEW; we just need to wear it.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

“We are already new, we just need to wear it.” Thank you, Karen. That sums it up perfectly. Thank you for sharing that thought. Wishing you joy and blessings.

  12. Terri Miller says:

You’re right. New situations can be scary and overwhelming. I tend to be a person who likes a routine. I can be intimidated by change. That’s when I need to lean on Jesus and trust him to walk me through it.

Love the new site Katherine. I enjoyed browsing through it and learned more about you and your passion for healthy living.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

Terri, I’m so glad you had a moment to look over my new website and I’m happy you like it. I identify with your cautious approach to change. I like to ponder, examine, and weigh the options before I make a change. And like you, I like routine. However, occasionally I will do something impulsive and mostly (not always) that works out for good. But, I am so thankful there is ONE we can always depend on–our Savior’s love for us in unfailing, unchanging, and always trustworthy. Thanks so much for your encouragement. Blessings!
