He delights in us

Ever have those rough days when everything seems to go wrong? Days when nothing turns out like we planned? We think we’re a total failure and don’t deserve anyone’s love or respect. But God always loves us–He delights in us.

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

Amazing love

Isn’t it awesome to have the assurance that our God loves us–and even more amazing that He delights in us?

We, who are imperfect, are loved by the creator of the Universe. The Maker of Heaven and Earth rejoices over His creation. He loves His people, even with all our faults and mishaps.

Our God delights in us.

His light

On a recent trip to the beach, an incredible sunset blessed us (pictured above). As it sank toward the horizon, a golden pathway paved across the ocean toward us. But it wasn’t just meant for us–wherever people were, at that moment, the light came to them.

Our Lord’s light is like that, too. Wherever we are, His light penetrates the darkness and loneliness. Our feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy melt away by His power.

Our response?

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. (Psalm 37:4-6)

We are called to delight in Him and He responds with blessings.
Our trust in Him brings righteous reward.
Commitment to God grants us vindication.

But that’s not all…

We are called to know God, to seek Him

But let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteous on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:24)

Why is it so hard to recognize God’s great love for us?

Even though we feel undeserving of God’s love, it is there. And…it’s mutual. Our awareness of God’s delight in us, even when we’re not perfect, gives us the capacity and courage to delight in Him. And as we share love with Him, He enables us to love others.

Love grows when shared, nurtured by the light of Him who delights in us.

This past week, Katy Kauffman posted a beautiful article on Lighthouse Bible Studies. This inspiring message, “What We Delight In: Heart Check-up,” provides much more insight and scripture on this topic. I encourage you to read her message here.

I so loved this line Ms. Katherine; “it wasn’t just meant for us–wherever people were, at that moment, the light came to them.” What’s so powerful is that God does meet us where we are. It reminded me that I don’t wait until people are cleaned up enough to come to church to show them God. I need to go where they are! How can they know to come to God if I don’t first bring God to them? We can’t get what we need until we know what it is we need.

Thank you for always sharing His light with so many. God’s blessings sweet friend.
