Showers of blessing

I’m experiencing MANY blessings–showers of blessing!

But,  why do I feel so overwhelmed?

We have been blessed with sunshine and rain so our garden is doing well. Our squash is producing in bountiful amounts. We’ve eaten squash in a multitude of recipes. I’ve frozen squash, made pickles, and shared with friends and neighbors.

The rain arrived at just the right time and we are blessed with a great crop of green beans. That means picking, snapping, and canning.

And now, the blackberries are ripe, the weeds are overtaking my flowers, the grass needs mowing, and  it’s Vacation Bible School week. There are also deadlines on the horizon for work, numerous tasks at church, and more, MORE, MORE!

None of these issues are bad–in fact it’s all good. It’s just that there’s too much right now.

Does this happen to you? What can we do when our responsibilities overwhelm us–even if all the tasks are “good stuff”?

Pray–take time each day to talk with God. He does not grow weary, even when we are exhausted and ready to give up.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:28-29

Ask for God’s guidance as to what is really important.

For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 41:13

Step back and take a look–What can wait until tomorrow or next week? What can be ignored or taken completely off our plate of responsibilities?

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

It may seem that I am whining. That isn’t my intention. All these tasks on my “plate” are positive–I’m blessed! My point is that sometimes we can become so busy with the “good stuff” in our lives that we become separated from God, family, and even ourselves.

If you have some strategies to help you stay balanced when you are showered with an abundance of blessings, please share.

Praying for you my friend, that you may have Joy in the Journey!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Oh I’m with you! And yes, tons of squash. Balance is sometimes hard for me. But you are right, when I give my list to God, He works His magic and I’m able to get more done and with the right attitude. Thanks for the reminder.

Tammy, thank you for reminding me about having the right attitude. I know I can’t find balance if I’m grumpy. Jesus tells us to “cast our cares on Him because He cares for us.” I love your idea about giving a list to God–I’m going to try that. Wishing you blessings on your journey toward balance!
