He answers

Have you ever had a disagreement with you spouse, friend, or loved one and he/she became silent and refused to talk? We are blessed to have a Father who doesn’t give us the silent treatment when we call for help. He answers.

Many years ago my husband and I experienced a long period of turmoil. We weren’t able to talk things through and in frustration, I moved out. But I came to realize I had made a mistake in giving up too soon. In despair, I threw myself across the bed and cried out to God, “What can I do? I’ve messed up!”

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

He answers our cry for help

I had sinned and God brought me to my knees. Desperate for His forgiveness and guidance, I cried out to Him, “Help me, Father!” Despite my unworthiness, our loving Father lifted me from the pit, granted forgiveness, and set me on the path to reconciliation.

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:18).

He answers our confession of sin and grants forgiveness

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

God didn’t leave me alone in my despair. He doesn’t ignore anyone who calls out to Him.

I was terrified of God’s wrath–as a sinner and undeserving of His love and forgiveness. But God answered my call for help. He is mercy, grace, and love.

Do you need to call out to God today? Is there something you think is too small for God to worry over–or too big for Him to forgive? Are you in need of His mercy and grace? Can I pray for you?

Our loving Father is only a prayer away.

And He answers–always.

  3. Hallelujah! God always, ALWAYS, stands ready, with outstretched hand, to receive us back.
We need to always, ALWAYS, stand willing to listen to His voice telling us when we’re wrong and be quick to repent when it’s called for.

Our loving Father has given us the example of forgiveness. I’m so thankful for second chances (over and over). We are blessed by His grace and mercy, especially since we don’t deserve it. Thank you for your encouragement, Lisa, and for being a wonderful role model. Blessings!

  7. Terri Miller says:

He hears us when we pray, and he answers. I wonder why sometimes it takes us so long to ask. Blessings, Katherine.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

Great question, Terri–why do we take so long to ask? Sometimes we may think our problem is too trivial to bother God with. Other times, we may doubt His willingness to respond. Or our faith may falter and we believe God doesn’t care for us. But when we trust Him, we recognize that nothing is too small or too big for God to handle. Thank you for helping us to think more about our reluctance to take it all to God.

I love it that our Father is with us, even when we are filled with doubt and terrified of His awesome power. He loves me! And all of us–even when we fall away–He is there to lift us up, dust us off, and guide us back into His will. Peace and blessings, Kathy!

  11. J.D. Wininger says:

Yes! God will answer us when we come to Him with a truly contrite heart and an honest plea for His guidance. There’s been many times in my life when I’ve withheld coming to Him until I’d exhausted all other means of solving something myself. While I’ve never heard this from Him, I’ve felt it, knowing that He must be thinking, “Precious child, I’ve been her all along and it never had to get to this point. I’ve been ready to act, but waited until you were ready to honestly and sincerely ask.” THAT is what I have to ask His forgiveness for. God’s blessings precious friend.

    1. Katherine Pasour says:

A truly contrite heart…I wish I had not been so stubborn in my youth and resisted turning to Jesus and seeking Him with a contrite heart. I’m so blessed to have received His grace, mercy, and love when I deserved His condemnation. Thank you for sharing from your heart. You are a wonderful role model and I’m so grateful for your friendship and encouragement.
